Feedback Thoughts
I chose to read the article about how to silence the critical voices in your head. This article is all about the importance of positive feedback in growth. Concentrating on the little things you are doing correctly throughout the day can help you continue on the right path. Hope comes from these moments of self-congratulation, which shows it is important to be your own support system. Being able to rely on yourself for encouragement and positivity will also make hearing negative feedback from other easier. It's like holding up a cup of water. If you have to hold up negative feedback too much you can't take another minute. However, if you intersperse those periods of hearing negative feedback with positive reinforcement from yourself, then those moments of receiving constructive criticism will be easier.
The other article I chose to read was Why It's so Hard to Hear Negative Feedback. The author mentioned that hearing negative feedback makes our ego feel threatened, which causes us to filter out some of what we are hearing and not listen to the speaker. I agree with this, have experienced it, and think that letting go of this tendency is vitally important for personal progress. This really gets to the root of the issue, which is our ego. Seeing negative feedback as something bigger than you put it in a whole different light. The feedback will help the company, help achieve goals, and help your boss. Focusing on the benefits to other people helps the receiver of criticism take everything less personally.

Celebrate the little victories!! I've always been a strong believer of that. It's so easy to get caught up in all the things you aren't doing correctly. Sometimes those things overshadow the great things you are doing. And of course hearing negative feedback is hard. It feels like we're being attacked. But like you said, we shouldn't take it as an attack on our egos. We should always try to look at feedback as a learning opportunity.
